Blossom  in Birthwork Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in our Blossom in Birthwork scholarship opportunities! In light of the disparities present in the maternal healthcare system for families of marginalized communities throughout the United States, we are committed to being agents of change. We believe that birthworkers such as Doulas and Childbirth Educators are key in reversing the impact of historic and current systems of oppression that create and uphold these disparities. We reason that the people best positioned to change the health outcomes for the birthing families in these communities are the educated, passionate birthworkers within them and have aligned our birth justice efforts by providing scholarships to BIPOC (black indigenous people of color) birthworkers for our professional workshops and mentorship program. Our scholarships are funded by a 10% contribution of proceeds from our workshops and mentorship, as well as donations from compassionate humanitarians and lovers of birth equity. We are sincerely grateful to all of our amazing donors who have supported our birth justice efforts and sponsored the education and mentoring of up and coming Doulas!

Qualification Requirements

Workshop scholarships are offered based on a demonstrated commitment to community service and financial need. Priority is given to all applicants who increase diversity in the doula or childbirth education profession, specifically people identifying as BIPOC.

Applications should be submitted at least four weeks before the start of the workshop you'd like to attend. Both full and partial scholarships are offered and the number of scholarships available each workshop vary. The earlier your submit your application, the greater your chance to receive a scholarship for the session you'd like to attend.

We ask that prior to applying for a scholarship, you make any arrangements necessary to be available for all class dates and that you are able to pay any balances owed after the amount of the scholarship has been applied.

Applications will be reviewed approximately four weeks before a workshop begins and applicants will be notified within one week. Late applicants may need to apply for a future workshop if all available scholarships have been awarded. Please contact grow@blossombeginnings.org if you have any questions.

Deadline: August 15, 2020

We care about your privacy. All information provided in this application is for our use only and will be used to determine your eligibility for a professional workshop scholarship. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
